Operation Red Nose Langley/Surrey kicked off their 2016 season at Willowbrook Shopping Centre on Friday night.

Headquartered by the Langley Gymnastics Foundation, the kick-off featured several performances from young gymnasts, as well as speeches from ICBC representatives and Langley RCMP officers.

Operation Red Nose is an annual road safety campaign against impaired driving. During the holiday season, Operation Red Nose provides a safe ride home service to motorists who have consumed alcohol or who do not feel fit to drive.

The service is run entirely by volunteers and rides are by donation.

This year volunteers will be operating from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Nov. 25, 26, and Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 and 31.

To book a ride, call 604-532-0888 30 to 45 minutes before needing a lift, and a volunteer team of three people will come to your location. Two volunteers will drive you home in your own car, while the third volunteer will follow behind in the team's escort vehicle. Pre-bookings for rides are not available.

Volunteers are still needed for this season. For more information, call 604-532-0888, email langley-surrey@operationrednose.com or visit rednoselangleysurrey.ca.
