Aldergrove Art Club members will be celebrating the club's 40th anniversary on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1 to 4 p.m. at the Aldergrove OAP Hall, 3015 - 273 Street.

The club began in 1971 with meetings at Helen Poppy's home on 248 Street and the members asked Doris Swensson and Audrey Fatkin to show what they had learned about painting and art.

This went on for several weeks until the membership grew so large that the Poppy home could not accommodate the meetings and the club moved to the OAP Hall.

The club continues to meet every Wednesday afternoon at the OAP Hall to this day. Currently there are about 20 members.

Helen Poppy, Audrey Fatkin and Doris Swensson plan to attend the 40th anniversary celebration on Oct. 26.
