On the heeals of a collaborative concert with kids last weekend, the adults in Langley Community Chorus are now preparing for two more concerts this weekend.

The chorus, Langley’s largest mixed voice choir, is in its 26th year and under the direction of Anita Comba decided to try something a little different.

The chorus join forces with the Langley Community Music Schools 44-member children’s choir last weekend at South Langley Church to present Life is a Song.

By having the children’s and adult choirs share the stage, it was the intent of both Comba and the children’s director Tamara Hummel, to demonstrate that “singing is for life.”

From childhood to adulthood we sing when we’re happy, when we’re sad, we sing to praise, we sing to remember, we sing for love, grief, and joy.

We can even sing to change the world – at least that is the belief of composer Jim Papoulis, whose song Music Changes the World was one of the selections performed by the joint choirs.

The LCC have two more shows on the roster.

They will be performing alone this weekend, 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at the United Churches of Langley in Murrayville, followed by a 3 p.m. concert Sunday, May 5 at the St. Dunstan’s Anglican Church in Aldergrove.

Tickets for these concerts are available at: brownpapertickets.com, Long and McQuade, from chorus member, or by emailing lccconcerts@gmail.com.
