These colourful characters will skate to the theme of the Greater Vancouver Zoo in the Aldergrove Skating Club’s tribute to Aldergrove on March 2.

At this year's annual pop concert Aldergrove Skating Club proudly presents a hometown tribute to Aldergrove called "This is Our Town."

Club director Colleen Laferriere says, "We approached several businesses in and around Aldergrove and for $40 each they helped sponsor our show. For their sponsorship they got a musical number dedicated to their business, their business card is in our program, and there will be a sign or simulated storefront showing their business as part of our props."

The announcer will also be telling the audience which business the program is featuring.

The sponsor businesses include Royal Paw Palace, The Source, Hooked on Hobbies, Strawberry Hills Hair Care, Hamilton Farms, All Seasons Garden Centre, Churchland Christmas Tree Farm, JD Farms, Thrive Dance Studio, Visalus Sciences, Recreation Excellence, Cranky's Bike Shop, Wrinkles-R-Us, The Hockey Crease, Inland Kenworth, We Do Recover Towing, Pearce Home Hardware, Perfection Cleaning, Cor's Pizza, Aldergrove Travel House, Bonetti Meats, and the Aldergrove Star.

"Our club has 130 members in it and we have been around for 36 years," notes Laferriere.

"Our skaters range in age from three to 66.  We have four Synchronized Skating teams which won four gold medals at the BC/YT Championships in South Surrey in January."

The show will be presented Friday, March 2, 6:30 p.m. at Aldergrove Arena. Ticket prices are $7 for everyone over the age of three.
