Glory be

Small Glories brings their big sound to Langley Sunday as part of a tour that takes them around Western Canada and into the far north.

Small Glories is Cara Luft and JD Edwards who were thrown together purely by accident for an anniversary show at Winnipeg’s venerable West End Cultural Centre. They proved to be a roots powerhouse and have spent the past three years touring globally.

The Langley show kicks off at 8 p.m. at the Bez Arts Hub, 20230 64th Ave.

Advance tickets are $32 and can be purchased through the venue’s website, bezartshub.com.

Taking flight

Erica Grimm, Zuzana Vasko and Emily Arnett have collaborated on Murmurations, a new exhibit at the Fort Gallery.

But they have brought in creative elements from others, including Robert Bringhurst, Joanna Macy, Thomas Berry, Catherine Keller, Pope Francis, Tim Lilburn, Jan Zwicky. They are quoted in the exhibit inspired by birds.

Murmuration is the flying formations created by starlings who fly as a unit without crashing into each other.

The artists in this exhibit have incorporated elements into an installation that both address the complexity and fragility of life on a planet in the midst of a changing system.

The exhibit is on Thursday, Nov. 15 to Dec. 9. Find out more at fortgallery.ca.
