For their next group show, the Fort Gallery is transforming their space into a hub of contemporary art textiles and fibre sculptures.

Textile Take, running Aug. 30 to Sept. 17, will feature works constructed out of some form of textile, with pieces varying in content, scope and execution.

These textile artists employ diverse techniques, including weaving, crocheting, knitting, felting, burning and stitching, as well as printing and dyeing. Organic and recycled materials are mixed with other media to create textile expressions that emerge as wall hangings, sculpture and works integrated with natural forms.

The public is invited to join the gallery and participating artists at an opening reception on Sept. 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. Their “First Thursday” music event will also be held that night.

The Fort Gallery is located at 9048 Glover Rd. Regular hours are Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
