It’s the biggest mixed martial arts event ever in Abbotsford.

Mamba Fight Night 4 invades the Abbotsford Centre on Nov. 10, and the fourth edition put on by local gym Mamba MMA continues to grow.

After hosting events at the Ag-Rec Building and the Abbotsford Banquet Hall in the past, event organizer Kultar Gill said the decision to move to a bigger venue was a no-brainer.

“We had to turn away over 600 people last year,” he said, of 2016’s sold out Mamba Fight Night 3. “We really had no choice but to go somewhere bigger, the demand was high. It’s going to be the biggest MMA show in B.C. besides the UFC.”

The event will be Vegas-style, with spectators encouraged to dress up. Gill said the local business community is really embracing the event, already booking dozens of the banquet tables and bringing clients for the show.

Gill stressed that it’s not just simply a night of fights, as there will be plenty of entertainment for the whole family. Singers, a DJ, celtic dancers and midget wrestlers will all be on the show, in addition to some of the best young male and female fighters from all over North America and the world.

Attendance for the show could be as high as 3,000. Gill said the interest is already high, and said he’s happy the buzz is there despite the fact that none of the scheduled fights have been announced.

“The Mamba MMA brand is so hot that people want to come because they know it will be a good show,” he said. “Fights will be announced once we sell out, and that could happen in the next few weeks.”

He said part of the reason why he puts on these big events is to spread positivity in Abbotsford.

“We do it for the community and it gives kids a positive goal and something to work towards,” he said, adding he is providing tickets for several hundred kids under the age of 10. “There’s a lot of negative news about the community of Abbotsford and an event like this with all the local businesses behind it is positive.”

Tickets for the event are available at the Mamba MMA gym located at #105-31581 South Fraser Way, Reflex Supplements, Greek Islands restaurant, the Abbotsford Centre box office or online at ticketmaster.ca.
