One person is dead after a single-vehicle collision in Surrey Monday night (Feb. 10).
Surrey Police Service, the RCMP Surrey Police Operations Support Unit’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (SPOSU CCIT), and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are investigating the crash, which happened shortly before 11 p.m. in the 12300-block of 104 Avenue.
At approximately 10:50 p.m. on Monday (Feb 10), SPS received reports of a single vehicle that was travelling westbound in the 12300-block of 104 Avenue that had hit a power pole. SPS Frontline officers attended and despite life-saving medical intervention by Surrey Fire Service and BC Emergency Health Service crews, the driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, died on scene, an SPS release said.
SPOSU CCIT and ICARS were called in to assist and the cause of the collision remains under investigation, but at this early stage the speed of the vehicle is thought to be the primary contributing factor, the release noted.
Although 104 Avenue was closed overnight due to the collision and BC Hydro fixing the affected pole, it has since re-opened to traffic.
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information, including dash-cam footage is asked to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-11754 (SP).
