$7,000 raised at 3rd annual Aldergrove HugABull event

Funds will go towards the dogs in HugABull's care

HugABull Advocacy & Rescue Society's third annual fundraiser was successful, thanks to dozens of visitors who donated a total of $7,000 – well over the organizers' goal – on Sept. 14.

The society, a registered charity that focuses on support and outreach for bully-breed dogs, has matched more than 1,500 breed ambassadors to homes since its foundation in 2003, said Malone Guenther of the fundraising team.

"We advocate for the responsible ownership of all breeds and for evidence-based, breed neutral laws in our communities," she added.

This year's fundraiser was at Roots & Wings Distillery and featured a market of vendors and the Veg Out food truck.

"All the vendors we had were fantastic, and each donated as well," Guenther said.

There was also a "doggie" painting station, and many furry friends came out to meet and greet.

Guenther said the fundraiser will return next year, location to be decided.
