Independent Shelly Jan has withdrawn her candidacy in Langley-Abbotsford, although her name will still appear on the voting ballots during the election, according to Elections BC.

Her departure was confirmed Tuesday, Oct. 1, by Elections BC.

"Election officials will inform voters at voting places in Langley-Abbotsford that Shelly Jan has withdrawn as a candidate. There will also be signage at voting places announcing this withdrawal."

Advance voting begins Thursday, Oct. 10.

Five candidates running in Langley-Abbotsford are NDP John Aldag, BC Conservative Party Harman Bhangu, independent Karen Long, and BC Green Party Melissa Snazell.

Election day is Oct. 19. Advance voting will take place Oct. 10-13, and 15-16.
