Earth Ninjas holding memorial clean up in Aldergrove

Sept. 22 community clean up honours David Brett, a longtime ninja

For a fifth year, Earth Ninjas founder Jocelyn Titus is holding a memorial community clean up in honour of her step-dad, David Brett, in Aldergrove on Sunday, Sept. 22.

Brett moved to Aldergrove to be with Titus' mom after a 23-year long distance relationship.

"He enjoyed staying active and never missed a morning walk around the block. Unfortunately that morning a storm came through and he never made it home [four years ago]," Titus shared.

"He was always such a positive light in our lives. We miss him every day."

To honour his memory and dedication to the Earth Ninjas, Titus organizes a community clean up at 24960 Robertson Cres.

"I've lived along Robertson Crescent for a long time, and unfortunately seen a lot of litter and debris over the years," she said.

Titus said the community clean ups are important as a way to look after the local environment and to raise awareness about the impact of waste on the planet.

"It's a hands on way to inspire action and bring awareness to the crazy amount of litter within our community."

All equipment will be supplied, and there will be a barbecue after the clean up, which runs from 9 a.m. to noon.

Titus asks people to register ahead of time by emailing earthninjas604@gmail.com.
