Woman fills cart with $1,700 in stolen goods and tries to walk away from WalMart

A 34-year-old Langley woman who is already on conditions to not be near any WalMart is facing new criminal charges after she allegedly tried to make off with over $1,700 in stolen meat and other products on June 22.

Shortly before 10 a.m., police were called to a theft in progress at WalMart in Langley. A woman had exited the store with a shopping cart full of items, including clothing and meat.

She tried to walk away, but staff were able to provide a description to police and she was arrested. The shopping cart was located and was found to have over $1,700 worth of product, said Cpl Holly Largy.

“Fortunately, there were several witnesses to the theft and her arrest was swift,” said Largy.

Police located a vehicle believed to be associated to the suspect and could see it was filled with what appeared to be more stolen property worth approximately $2,000.

This suspected stolen property was seized and forms part of a separate investigation, said RCMP.

Police checks revealed the woman is subject to a condition she not be within 100 metres of any Walmart store.

Police will recommend charges.
