Update: KPU lockdown ends

Triggered by police search for suspect

Greenhouses at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) on the Langley Bypass were locked down by the university early Tuesday afternoon while police searched for a suspect.

RCMP reported the pursuit began when an officer with the Integrated Road Safety Unit spotted someone believed to have an outstanding warrant in the area of McLeod Athletic Park.

KPU posted an advisory online around 1 p.m. that said while RCMP had not indicated “any threat to the university community,” employees inside the greenhouses were going into lockdown.

The police search was focused north east of the Langley Bypass, KPU reported.

The rest of the campus was open as normal

By 2 p.m. police advised normal operations could resume.

RCMP advised the individual had not been located.
