Aldergrove Kodiaks faced a heavy defeat on Wednesday, Jan. 22, against the Ridge Meadows Flames who took home an 8-0 win.
The first period saw a goal for the Flames every few minutes, the first two taken by Ridge Meadows' Joshua Bettesworth, with assistance from Nolan Bowsher, Justin Sumners, Jakob Loewen, and Zack Lagrange.
At 16:45, Theo Kochan scored a third goal for the Flames, with teammates Jonah Power-Smith and Sumners assisting.
During a power play with one minute left of the first period, Flames' Bowsher nabbed a fourth goal for his team with Kochan and Lagrange assisting.
Three minutes into second, Flames' Kochan scored again with help from Samuel Allen and Power-Smith.
Pierce Whyte wrapped up second period with a sixth goal for the Flames, receiving assistance from James Eagle and Matthew Wise.
Ridge Meadows' Bowsher kicked off the final period strong with a seventh goal during another power play, with assistance from Lukas Ravenstein and Lagrange.
Loewen wrapped up the game with the Flames' final goal of the night, with Allen and Power-Smith assisting.
Aldergrove served nearly double the penalties Ridge Meadows did, though none were during second period.
Kodiaks netminder Kyle Spak was kept significantly busier than rival Matthew Candusso, as the Flames outshot them 62-23.
The three stars of the game were Flames Bettesworth (first), Kochan (second), and Power-Smith (third).
Kodiaks remain seventh in the seven-team Harold Brittain Conference of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL), while the Flames are in the top spot with only four losses this season.
