Job seekers, students and those considering a new career path are invited to explore new opportunities and connect with industry leaders at the Langley Career and Education Expo, taking place Thursday, June 19.
The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Langley Curling Centre, located at 20699 42 Ave. Admission and parking are free.
Hosted by Black Press Events, the Career and Education Expo brings together employers, career resources and post-secondary institutions from across British Columbia. Attendees will have the chance to meet face-to-face with recruiters, take part in on-site interviews and explore educational programs suited to every stage of life and career.
“This event is designed to support people at all points in their professional journey, whether they’re entering the workforce, upgrading their skills or seeking a career change,” says Felicia Galea, events manager with Black Press Media. “We’ve created a space where connections are made and opportunities are discovered.”
Exhibitors at the Langley event include BC Corrections, which is actively hiring and looking to connect with motivated individuals ready to make a difference in their communities. Discovery Community College will also be on site, offering guidance on career-focused training programs in healthcare, business and trades.
City of Langley representatives will be available to discuss current and upcoming employment opportunities, as well as how the municipality supports workforce development in the region.
“There’s a growing demand for skilled workers across multiple sectors and we’re seeing strong interest from both employers and job seekers,” Galea says. “It’s a great chance to network, ask questions and even land a job on the spot.”
The event is part of a province wide series of hiring and education expos designed to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers. According to Black Press Events, more than half of attendees are currently employed but exploring new opportunities and approximately 60 per cent have some level of post-secondary education.
Attendees are encouraged to bring updated resumes and dress professionally.
