50-year-old man dies in single-vehicle collision near Mission

Witnesses performed CPR but the 50-year-old driver from Deroche died on the scene

A 50-year-old Deroche man died in a single-vehicle collision on Thursday (Sept. 21), Mission RCMP say.

Police were called to Husband Road in Deroche at approximately 6 p.m. for a serious single-vehicle crash where the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

Witnesses to the crash were performing CPR on the driver when first responders arrived. Despite the efforts of witnesses and first responders, the man died on the scene.

There were no passengers in the vehicle.

“Mission RCMP would like to thank the witnesses who stopped and performed CPR until paramedics arrived,” the detachment said in a statement.

The RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service team, as well as Mission RCMP’s Traffic Services unit, attended and their investigation is ongoing.

Those who witnessed the collision but have not yet spoken with police are urged to call Mission RCMP at 604-826-7161.
