Abandoned house destroyed by fire in Abbotsford

Blaze breaks out Sunday afternoon at Center and Glenwood

An abandoned house went up in flames today (Sunday) in Abbotsford.

The fire broke out at about 12:30 p.m. at Center Street and Glenwood Avenue.

When crews arrived, there were heavy flames on the back deck, and the fire was spreading into the home.

Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames, but the residence was badly damaged.

A neighbour said the power to the home was cut off about a week ago, but homeless people had been sneaking into the house for shelter.

No further details are available at this time.
