The Abbotsford Hospice Society (AHS) has announced the appointment of a new executive director.
Bev Brown will take over the operational leadership of the society while remaining an active partner with Westview Executive Search Ltd.
Debbie Lehmann, who has been with AHS for 10 years and has been executive director since 2007, is leaving the role on May 30.
Brown, whose roots in the community go back to her time as an MEI student, has more than 15 years of senior strategic leadership experience, including her tenure as president of Envision Financial until 2012, where she provided leadership to more than 800 employees.
She will work alongside Patrick Giesbrecht, chair of the AHS capital campaign.
“I am pleased to donate my time and expertise to this wonderful local charity that provides important end-of-life care and support to individuals and families in our region,” Brown said.
“I’m happy to step up and play a leadership role and work together with the board, staff and community to see Holmberg House to completion.”
AHS board chair David Turchen said Brown has the “full support of the board” as she takes on her new role.
“She brings a wide array of skills that our organization needs in preparing for our eventual move into Holmberg House. Bev brings the financial acumen and the track record of building teams to take us to the next level,” he said.
AHS is currently building Holmberg House, an adult hospice, on the Dave Lede Campus of Care site on Marshall Road adjacent to Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
