Abbotsford man pleads guilty to taking part in riot

Luke Patillo is scheduled to be sentenced next month in Vancouver

An Abbotsford man has pleaded guilty to his role in the Stanley Cup riot of June 15, 2011.

Luke Douglas George Patillo, 20, issued the plea on a charge of taking part in a riot. He initially faced three other charges – two counts of break and enter and one count of mischief – but those are expected to be stayed.

Patillo is slated to return to Vancouver provincial court for sentencing on Aug. 14.

To date, 301 criminal charges have been approved against 114 suspected rioters, and 26 have pleaded guilty.
