Abbotsford Hospice Society's (AHS) Holmberg House has received another $830,000 in donations to help complete its construction.
The latest donation, made Monday, consists of $415,000 from AHS and a matching amount from Dave and Lee Holmberg.
AHS executive director Bev Brown said the money puts Holmberg House $85,000 away from reaching its "clean lock-up" goal.
"We are so proud of our community for raising these funds and helping us to achieve this milestone," she said.
David Turchan, chair of the AHS board, said the organization is humbled by the continued generosity of the Holmberg family.
"This gift helps us complete this important community project, which expands our service support as well as provide more efficient and effective health-care services," he said.
Holmberg House is an adult hospice facility under construction on the Dave Lede Campus of Care on Marshall Road next to Abbotsford Regional Hospital.
It is named for Dave Holmberg Jr., who passed away in March 2011 at the age of 48 years after a battle with cancer.
When complete, the 30,000 sq. ft. facility will include a restorative garden, music and therapy rooms, and numerous support services.
Another $4 million is needed to complete construction, and the Holmberg House Matching Funds Challenge has been extended from Dec. 25 to Jan. 15.
