Charges laid in Willowbrook mall robbery

Six suspects in a Langley jewelry store robbery were arrested in Coquitlam less than an hour after the noon-hour hold-up by Vancouver police.

Eight men have now been charged in connection to an armed robbery at a Langley jewelry store.

Four are from Surrey, one from Vancouver, one from Burnaby, one from Alberta and one has no fixed adress.

They were arrested Thursday after the Golden Tree Jewellers in Willowbrook Shopping Centre was robbed during the noon hour by a group who sprayed employees and bystanders with bear spray and fired gun shots on their way out of the mall.

Several people were treated for eye irritation. The mall was shut down for the rest of the day.

Six men were arrested in Coquitlam an hour after the hokld-up and two in Vancouver later that day.

Weapons and robbery charges have been laid against 31-year-old Dale Patrick Weinmeyer of Vancouver, 33-year-old Lesley Ladouceur of Caslan, Alta., 35-year-old Christopher Leon Reinke of Surrey, 44-year-old Ian Jeffrey Hornal of Surrey, 23-year-old Aras Ahmed-Kadir of Surrey, 31-year-old Paul Rego of Burnaby, 20-year-old Hendren Saleh Abbas of Surrey, and 31-year-old Leonard Cardinal of no fixed address.

All of the suspects will remain in custody until their next court appearance.

Vancouver police said they were investigating the men before the robbery, but are not revealing any information about the nature of the investigation.
