The risk of Fraser River flooding in the Abbotsford area has diminished following a previous evacuation order – later downgraded to an alert – for some residents of Glen Valley and Matsqui Prairie.
The BC River Forecast Centre ended its “high streamflow advisory” on Monday, saying flows from the lower Fraser River are dropping and are expected to continue to recede through the week, as snowmelts decline.
The centre reported that the river level at the Mission bridge (above) had dropped to 5.97 metres yesterday. The evacuation order was issued when the level reached 6.27 metres and was expected to hit 6.75, which did not occur.
