Free workshop to educate rural well owners

"WOW" – a Well Owners Workshop — will be presented on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 7 – 10 p.m., at Fire Hall #6 in Murrayville

For many Langley Township residents, wells supply the fresh, clean groundwater that is used for drinking, cooking, irrigation, and other uses around the home and farm. So for the sake of safe and healthy water, it is essential that they are properly cared for.

"WOW" – a Well Owners Workshop — will be presented on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 7 – 10 p.m., at Fire Hall #6 in Murrayville, 22170 – 50 Avenue.

The free workshop will give well owners information on water supply sources and well protection, maintenance, and their operation. Water treatment options and how to interpret water testing results will be discussed, and presentations will be made by industry, government, science and health experts. Township of Langley staff and workshop partners will be on hand to answer questions and a water quality testing lab display will be set up. Educational material on wells, groundwater, and health will also be distributed.

Pre-registration is encouraged. Call 1-855-530-8934, toll free, or visit bcgwa.org.

Registration will also be accepted at the event.

The free well owners workshop is presented by the B.C. Groundwater Association in co-operation with the B.C. Ministries of Environment, Agriculture, and Agri-Food Canada, with support from the Township of Langley, City of Abbotsford, Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations, and Fraser Health Authority.
