Stephen Harper will be doing his final rally of the Conservative Party's national campaign in Abbotsford.
The event will be held Sunday night at the Cascade Aerospace hangar at 7 p.m.
The news was a surprise to Abbotsford Conservative incumbent Ed Fast.
"I didn't really expect the PM to come to Abbotsford," he said. "I am absolutely thrilled."
Fast said Conservatives from across the Lower Mainland will be invited to the "Rally in the Valley."
He said Cascade Aerospace was chosen because its massive hangar is one of the few rooms available in the Valley that will be able to accommodate the large crowd that such an event will draw.
"I would hope we should be able to get at least 1,000 or 2,000 people to welcome him."
He said it is also an opportunity to highlight the importance of the aerospace industry in Canada, as Canada's fleet of Hercules aircraft is maintained there.
Since he became Prime Minister, Stephen Harper has never attended an event in Abbotsford, although he did pass through while announcing flood mitigation funding in Mission.
The rally is by invitation.
During Thursday evening's all-candidates meeting, NDP candidate David Murray said he was flattered that the Prime Minister was coming to Abbotsford, and suggested the Abbotsford riding is getting caught up in the "orange wave" that is sweeping the country.
