Homeless urged to come in from the cold in Langley

Cold snap launches extreme weather response with beds opened at Gateway of Hope and in Aldergrove for teens.

With temperatures expected to dip below -4 degrees this week, an extreme weather response has been called "until further notice" to shelter Langley's homeless.

Extreme weather shelter beds have been opened up for adults at the Gateway of Hope.

The Aldergrove Neighborhood Services has also activated a youth weather response. Shelter beds will be made available in Aldergrove.

The RCMP and community centres are all alerted and will let those in need know.

The ANS will provide transportation for teens in need of shelter. The inclement weather may continue for an extended period of time, with temperatures expected to go as low as -7 degrees overnight on Thursday.

If you are a youth or know of a youth who needs shelter during extreme weather, call 604-530-6477 between 7 p.m. and midnight, and transportation to the shelter will be arranged.
