Approximately 20,000 B.C. Hydro customers are without power in the Port Kells, Walnut Grove and Fort Langley areas due to a downed power line.

Most schools in the area were experiencing power outages in the morning with some of them seeing lights come back on around noon. Classes are continuing at most sites.

Buses are being deployed for students at DW Poppy, said the Langley School District website.

Crews are now on site and have confirmed the cause to be a downed line. Exact restoration times will not be available until full damage assessments are complete.

Thousands of homes in the area are still without power at the lunch hour.
