One person is in critical condition after a car smashed into a parked semi-truck in Burnaby overnight.

RCMP say they believe impairment was a factor.

The detachment responded to a call for the crash just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday (March 3). Officers arrived in the 4200-block of Imperial Street to find a car with two passengers inside had totalled its front end against the rear of a parked semi, while traveling eastbound.

Both passengers were rushed to hospital, one with minor injuries and the second in critical condition.

RCMP are looking for witnesses and dash cam footage of the crash. They’re asking anyone who was in the area of Imperial Street and Willingdon Avenue between 1:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on Sunday to contact them and quote file 2024-7300.
