It's a girl! Abbotsford's first baby of the new year is born

Three women were in labour at Abbotsford Regional Hospital at the same time, and the New Year's baby was born late in the afternoon.

Fraser Health announced this evening (Sunday) that Abbotsford's first baby of the new year was born at 4:30 p.m.

The baby girl weighed 8 lbs. 14 oz., and the parents have requested anonymity.

Eileen McAlear, senior communications consultant with Fraser Health, said the baby was one of three in contention to be Abbotsford's first born of the new year.

B.C.'s first baby of the new year arrived at three minutes past midnight at B.C. Women's Hospital. The baby girl, Isabella Marie Payne, weighed in at 9.5 pounds and was born to Jessica Clasen and Chris Payne of Vancouver.
