Della Mitchell would like whoever has her gift cards to know that they were supposed to be used for her two grandsons.
The Langley resident hopes that, if it was known that they would have benefited the boys, five and 12, who live with her and her husband, the person who has the cards might be inclined to give them back.
The three cards, with just over $600 on them, were in Mitchell’s purse when she went to the Langley Home Depot Store at 6550 - 200th Street to go shopping on Saturday (Dec. 2).
Mitchell acquired the cards earlier when she returned some purchases to Home Depot, and she was looking forward to using the refund money for her grandchildren.
When she discovered the cards had somehow disappeared, she says the people at Home Depot were very helpful, but were unable to find them.
“I don’t want to use the word theft,” she said.
Perhaps, she said, the cards fell out and someone happened to pick them up.
And maybe, if they read this, and they understand that the cards were going to be used for a 12-year-old and a five-year-old who share custody of a pet rabbit and a dog and cat, and love challenge baseball and video games, whoever has the cards will turn them in.
If they don’t, the Mitchells will still have a good Christmas, she said.
But it would be better if someone did the right thing.
If anyone were to find the cards, they could turn them in at the Times offices at 20258 Fraser Highway, no questions asked.
