Vancouver police announce charges against 60

A Langley resident is among the first 60 people facing criminal charges in the Vancouver Stanley Cup riot.

Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu made the announcement Monday morning.

He said police have recommended that each of the 60 be charged with participating in a riot along with other charges of mischief, assault, break and enter, and other charges.

A total of 163 charges are recommended.

“This is just the beginning as we expect to announce more arrests in the weeks and months ahead,” Chu told reporters.

“Every day we receive more tips.”
