Sea-Doos recently stolen from throughout the Lower Mainland were discovered by Mission RCMP at a Pitt Meadows property.
Police found five stolen Sea-Doos and six stolen Sea-Doo trailers during a search of a property near Golden Ears Bridge.
Mission RCMP was initially alerted to the thefts on Sept. 20 after someone allegedly cut through a fence on a Silverdale Avenue property and took a yellow Sea-Doo and trailer.
Roughly two weeks later on Oct. 3, police say thieves stole another pair of Sea-Doos on a trailer from a property near Deroche.
“Fortunately, the owner of the Sea-Doos stolen on October 3 had a tracking device on them, and investigators used information from it to determine that the watercraft may be at a property near the Golden Ears Bridge in Pitt Meadows,” Mission RCMP said in a news release.
The Ridge Meadows RCMP detachment joined Mission RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit to surveil the property and confirm the Sea-Doos were still there. Investigators searched the property the same day after obtaining a warrant.
The Sea-Doos and trailer stolen from Deroche were found, along with others from properties in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Richmond and Langley.
“No one was at the property when police attended, and no arrests have been made at this time, although the investigation is ongoing,” Mission RCMP said.
The Sea-Doo stolen from Silverdale Avenue wasn’t found.
Police encourage owners of small recreational vehicles such as Sea-Doos, dirtbikes, ATVs and side-by-sides to verify their security.
