The Langley Chapter of the Pipe Up Network will host a free public event with world-renowned experts on the Alberta tar sands and the realities and risks of having a diluted bitumen pipeline built in the Lower Mainland.
The event is wheelchair accessible, free, and open to the public.
Among the speakers will be Andrew Nikiforuk — an economist and award-winning author and journalist: Melina Laboucan-Massimo — a member of the Lubicon Cree from Peace River, Alta. and a member of the Nobel Women’s Initiative; Liz McDowell— CRED B.C. (Conversations for Responsible Economic Development); Arno Kopecky — journalist, travel writer and TED presenter; and Trenton Pierre — a member of the Katzie First Nation, construction project co-ordinator and artist.
The community forum, which will be held at Walnut Grove Secondary on Saturday, March 8, will feature panel discussions, workshops and opportunities to contribute to the work being done in the Lower Mainland.
It runs from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Doors open at noon.

Free childcare will be provided. Refreshments will be served by the Water Shed Arts Café and raffle prizes will be provided by local businesses.
