One-third of those on curfew go AWOL

A third of the convicted criminals living at home under a curfew were not indoors when they were supposed to be, when they were checked by Langley RCMP and probation officers.

An early morning sweep on Friday, Jan. 21 of 42 people required to remain in their homes during those hours found 13 were not in.

Some of those checked were free on bail, some were under house arrest and others were under peace bonds, the RCMP said.

They have been reported to their probation officers and could end up in jail as a result. The curfew sweep is carried out every three months by the Langley Crime Reduction Unit.
