With their pre-season behind them, the Langley Rivermen are set for the first-ever season in the British Columbia Hockey League.
To make it official, the ice is in at the Langley Events Centre and the team started practicing on their home ice Wednesday.
“Not being in our home rink provided us an opportunity to make the LEC something for our players to strive for and earn the opportunity to play there,” said director of operations Taylor Henderson adding that the new team bus was also a golden nugget dangling for the players.
Henderson was touching on the new team bus, run by Team Charters, which was unveiled over the final preseason weekend and is sure to open some eyes on the road. The Rivermen wanted to ensure they recognized their community partners, highlighting on the bus all of the teams at the Langley Events Centre as well as Langley Minor Hockey, Langley Girls Hockey, the Fraser Valley Phantoms and the Fraser Valley Hawks.
With the ice, the bus and the roster in place, the Langley Rivermen will officially unveil themselves to Langley at their home opener this Saturday, Sept. 24 at the Langley Events Centre when they cap the back end of a home and home with their cross-town rivals, the Surrey Eagles. The night is sure to be fun filled with games and prizes for the kids and it will also be Langley Minor Hockey’s first chance to use their free season ticket.
Get to the rink early for the pre-game introductions and enjoy an event filled night mixed in with some great BCHL action. Tickets are available online at www.langleyrivermen.com and the LEC ticket office will be open at 2 p.m. on game day.
