The Salvation Army has extended the length of stay for its supportive housing program.

The Salvation Army has announced the extension of the supportive independent living program for men at the Centre of Hope, allowing them to stay for 24 months instead of 12 months.

The Centre of Hope on Gladys Avenue has had supportive housing for men on the premises since it opened in 2005.

With 14 units in three different pods, adult males live in a safe, affordable, secure housing community for up to 12 months while working with staff to establish and implement a personal development plan.

With the announcement of the extension, the first 12 months will be a stabilization period that will focus on overall health and well-being, and maintaining sobriety. The second 12 months will focus on equipping the individual with life skills including money management, budgeting, learning how to write an effective resume, securing employment, and improving the person’s ability to get into, and sustain, housing.
