Kids in Langley can expect presents under the tree this year, thanks to a partnership between Toys “R” Us and the Gateway of Hope Salvation Army.
For the first year, Toys “R” Us locations across Canada donated more than 600,000 toys to several Salvation Army’s including Salvation Army Gateway of Hope in Langley.
In Langley alone, The Salvation Army received approximately 4,315 toys from the drive, which will go to kids and families in the Langley community.
“We believe play is a right for children, so it’s incredibly rewarding for us to be able to make this donation and spread the joy of play this Christmas,” says Melanie Teed-Murch, president of Toys “R” Us Canada.
Teed-Murch said Toys “R” Us chose The Salvation Army because it was a company they thought could “mobilize” the Toys “R” Us efforts.
“We felt they were an organization that could mobilize across 82 stores. In order to have a really coordinated effort, they were a great partner and could mobilize that across all ten provinces.”
