A paraglider was rescued from being stuck in a tree near Agassiz on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Kent-Harrison Search and Rescue volunteers successfully rescued a stranded paraglider who was stuck in a tree on Mount Woodside near Agassiz on Sunday, Sept. 8.

The paraglider was not hurt. The rope rescue team and an arborist set up a dual capability two-tensioned rope system to lower the paraglider to safety.

"The paraglider did the right thing by securing himself to the tree and waiting for rescue teams, rather than attempting to self rescue," KHSAR said via social media. "Thank you to our partner agencies, RCMP, BCEHS, and Agassiz Fire, for their assistance on this task."

KHSAR responded to 66 incidents in 2023 with their 26 operational members contributing 7,350 volunteer hours last year.
