Arson is suspected in a fire that destroyed a rural home that was for sale.
Around 4 a.m., Thursday Township firefighters were called to the blaze in the 6300 block of 256 Street. The area doesn't have any hydrants, so water had to be shuttled in, said Township assistant fire chief Pat Walker. By the time it arrived flames had engulfed the home.
Prior to the blaze spreading, a neighbour used his tractor to pull out a boat, car and ride-on mower that were parked in a garage next to the home, said Walker.
Firefighters managed to keep the fire contained to the house. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, which investigators believe started inside the home.
Langley RCMP and fire investigators continue their investigation. Power has been disconnected to what is left of the home, said Walker. The building will be demolished soon.
