Saturday’s big clean-up of the Springfield Village subdivision was a huge success for the fledgling community group.
“I would like to send a huge thank you to all the ‘Springfield Village People’ in all their donations towards the event, as well as all their hard work. Also a huge thank you to the Township of Langley for all their help making our neighbourhood a better place,” said lead organizer Crystal Grainger.
Donors to the event included Save-on Foods, Safeway, MTF Price Matters, Home Hardware, All Seasons Garden Centre, Mr. Flowers, Aldergrove A-1 Glass, McDonald’s, Fox and Hounds Pub, Vancouver Costco, Eze Rent-It Centre, Aldergrove Star and Eaves to Peaks Roofing Contacting.
The day’s activities also raised $730 towardsthe Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Their next clean-up is timed to coincide with the community-wide clean-up on April 21, and the Springfield Village People will also be doing a bottle drive for B.C. Children Hospital on behalf of Kasey Maryon Bunville that week.
Cleaning Up The Town
Spring cleaning time has arrived once again and the Aldergrove Business Association is looking to have an impact on our town.
The ABA has scheduled our first community-wide clean-up of the year for April 21 in cooperation with Township of Langley and they are looking for volunteers.
“We are hoping for 300 volunteers this year and need you to make it happen,” said ABA president Bruce Heslop.
“We are encouraging you to bring your kids, families, and employees out. With our corporate businesses in town it would be great to see a team of employees out wearing your company branding to show your support to the community. The details are below and we are requesting that you send us an email to advise an approximate number of people attending, as a barbecue lunch will be served.”
This second annual event will be held Saturday, April 21, meeting at the Extra Foods Parking Lot, 3100 - 272 Street at 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. All supplies will be provided as well as a free barbecue lunch, and smiles are welcome too.
