Trio faces kidnapping charges

The trial of three men charged with trying to run over an Aldergrove pedestrian with a truck in a parking lot near a community police office (CPO) was scheduled to begin Tuesday morning in Surrey Provincial Court.Jason Francis Wallace, Caylen Graham Pelletier and Craig Ivan Dennis were charged after the June 13, 2010 incident that occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of the Fraser Highway.A shaken man told Langley RCMP he was walking to meet a friend when a truck pulled up and one of the occupants ordered him to get in the back seat.Instead, the man ran for the nearby Aldergrove police office.Ad he sprinted into a parking lot, the vehicle followed, hitting the fleeing man on the leg and knocking him to the pavement.The victim lost his cell phone as he scrambled to his feet and resumed running for the CPO, screaming for help.One of the men in the truck scooped up the cell phone before the vehicle fled the scene.Wallace, Pelletier and Dennis, all in their early 20s, have been charged with a variety of criminal offences.All three are charged with attempted kidnapping, while Pelletier is charged with uttering threats, Wallace is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and Dennis is charged with robbery and theft.Only Pelletier is currently in custody, court records show.The trial was scheduled to run at least three days.
