UPDATE: Missing ATV rider found dead near Chehalis Lake

45-year-old Kevin Robert Paul of Aldergrove found by Kent-Harrison Search and Rescue and Agassiz RCMP

The BC Coroners Service confirmed the identity of the man found dead as a result of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) incident near Chehalis Lake west of Harrison Hot Springs.

Kevin Robert Paul, 45, of Aldergrove was discovered Sept. 3 by Agassiz RCMP and Kent-Harrison Search and Rescue (SAR) after a search that began the day before.

Paul was reported missing to Agassiz RCMP on Sept. 1 when he failed to return home following a short camping trip to the area west of Harrison Lake.

Mounties and SAR volunteers started to look for the missing man on Sept. 2 in the Grace Lake area. They found the male, deceased at the scene, along with his ATV in the water at the north end of Chehalis Lake near the mouth of a creek on Sept. 3.

The male was scheduled to be using his ATV on Aug. 29 and was expected to return Aug. 31.

“This is a really tragic accident,” said RCMP spokesperson Const. Ashley St. Germaine. “This investigation will be ongoing in conjunction with the BC Coroners Service.”
