UPDATED: Langley RCMP arrest man hiding in attic

Owen Charpentier was arrested by police at a Glover Road property Monday morning.

Langley RCMP have executed an arrest warrant for Owen Charpentier

Langley RCMP found a wanted man hiding in between insulation in an attic at a Glover Road home on Monday morning.

After issuing a public plea last week to help find Owen Charpentier, 20, Langley RCMP executed an arrest warrant for him at a residence in Milner.

Police believed Charpentier was hiding in the residence and obtained a warrant to enter and effect his arrest, said Cpl. Holly Largy.

Officers entered the home shortly after 1:30 a.m.

After over an hour of searching, Charpentier was found by the police dog hiding in an enclosed attic annex.  “He was hidden by insulation material and panels available to him as camouflage,” Largy said.

The Langley City resident was taken to court Monday morning to answer to his outstanding charges.

Charpentier was wanted for the alleged theft of a vehicle on Feb. 1.

On that day, it is alleged he was arrested after a police dog tracked him from a stolen car.  The vehicle had been stolen the day prior. When it was recovered, numerous break and enter tools were recovered inside, said police.

He was released with a promise to appear in court at a later day. When he didn’t appear, a warrant went out for his arrest.

Charpentier has been charged with theft under $5,000, driving while prohibited and breach of recognizance for the Feb. 1 incident.
