Langley School District officials announced Monday evening that all school district facilities will be closed today (Tuesday).

The district tweeted the following notification: "All Langley School District facilities will be closed Tuesday, February 7 to students and staff. This includes all schools, the School Board Office, BCIT programs and daycares that are within school district facilities."

Heavy amounts of snow have blanketed Langley City and Township since Friday.

Environment Canada said the last Pacific storm of the week was expected to arrive late Wednesday in the form of a strong warm front.

The front will move in from the south and spread warmer, moist air into the region Wednesday night.

With arctic air in place, there will be heavy snow initially Wednesday night along with a good chance of freezing rain.

This will be followed by significant rainfall on Thursday.

The greatest amount of snow and freezing rain will occur over inland sections.

Freezing rain will be a particular problem for the Fraser Valley.

There has been an increase in single-vehicle accidents in the Langleys as drivers struggle to navigate snow-choked, slippery roads, RCMP said. No serious injuries have been reported.

BC Hydro posted an update on its website that said most outages from the recent snowstorm have been restored.

"Crews and contractors are out, working to restore remaining customers. Individual restoration times may vary. Crews are preparing for possible new outages in areas expecting continued storm impacts. Please take precautions as conditions remain poor."

There were widespread outages through Metro Vancouver and the Valley.
