Two Aldergrove residents were uninjured in a motor vehicle collision that killed the driver of the other car, Thursday.

Police were called to the collision scene March 15 at 4 p.m. on Highway 97, 4.2 kilometres on the Kamloops side of the four-lane stretch of highway between Falkland and Westwold.

Police report a Chevy car heading towards Kamloops collided with a Jeep towing a trailer that was headed towards Falkland.

The female driver in her 30s, and lone occupant of the Chevy car from the Kamloops area, died at the scene.

The two unidentified occupants of the Jeep from the Aldergrove area were not injured.

“The traffic analyst was called to the scene and early indications are the Chevy crossed the centre line and struck the trailer that was being towed,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

The road was bare and dry at the time.

The identity of the deceased driver is being withheld while police attempt to contact next of kin.

Vernon RCMP’s North Okanagan Traffic Services are investigating. It is the area's first traffic fatality of 2012.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing and police and the coroners department are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to please contact the Vernon RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171 and ask to speak to the traffic investigators.
