After 11 years in jail, Eugene James Assiniboine was out, but not free of restrictions.

Now he’s on the run.

The 40-year-old First Nations man served his time for multiple charges that included sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, drug possession, possession of stolen property, escape from lawful custody and failing to appear in court.

He was supposed to live in an approved residence in the Langley area.

On Jan. 18, he disappeared.

Assiniboine hasn’t been seen at the residence since, and police think the former resident of Manitoba and Saskatchewan may have left the province.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Assiniboine is described as 5’8”, 173 lbs. with brown eyes, black short hair with a scar on his right-hand palm.

Langley RCMP issued a statement warning that Assiniboine’s past convictions demonstrate a “propensity for violence.”

If you spot him, don’t approach him, the RCMP advise.

Call 911 or phone the Langley Detachment at 604-532-3200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
