What to do about heavy roof loads and flooding

Here's what to do if you're facing flooding, or are worried about your roof today.

Those worried about heavy loads from an accumulation of snow and subsequent rain can check out National Research Council of Canada’s page on when to shovel your roof.

The website cautions: “You should never clear a roof yourself. Instead, opt for a qualified and insured snow removal company. Where the roof is accessible from the ground, you can reduce some load by using a snow rake to safely pull the snow off the roof from ground level, but even then you need to be careful.”

Those noticing flooding are urged to clear catch basins in their area. If that’s impossible, contact the City for help at 604-853-5485.
