Barbara Jean Searle (née Hunter)

It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Barb passed away peacefully at Langley Memorial Hospital on December 24, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Barb will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years Aubrey; children Mike (Heather), Kerri (Cam), and Kent (Amy); granddaughters Andrea and Kiara; and many relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her parents Peter and Bessie Hunter, her sister Shirley Taylor, and her infant daughter Judi.
Barb was born and raised in Vancouver. After graduation from Britannia High School, she worked for BC Tel where she met Aubrey. They married in 1960 and lived in Toronto, Vancouver and Chilliwack before settling in Langley in 1966. Mom thrived at running the household - providing home-cooked meals, garden-grown veggies, homemade preserves, and steady loving support to her husband and kids.
Barb was a talented pianist, achieving Honours in her Royal Conservatory exams, one year receiving the highest mark in Canada. We fondly remember playing piano duets and trying to sing along in our music room. Barb also liked to bake (everyone loved her shortbread!), garden, knit and volunteer, especially with the Canadian Cancer Society. Her favourite pets were her budgies. She had them all her life and patiently taught each one to talk.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Dr. Dalzell and the nurses at Langley Memorial Hospital who so tenderly cared for Mom during her brief stay there. Their kindness and support are sincerely appreciated by all of the family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday January 7, 2023 at the Church of the Ascension, which meets at the Langley Community Music School, 4899 207 Street, Langley.
