Bernadine BOLTON

March 16, 2014

Bolton, Bernadine Elsie (nee Bowyer)

March 6, 1926 ~ March 16, 2014. Bernie passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 16, 2014 after a long illness. Devoted wife and partner, proud mother and adoring grandmother, she is survived by Gordon, her dedicated husband of 68 years, by Douglas and Russell, her grateful children, and by Alexis and Ian, her precious grandchildren in whom Bernie will live on and continue to make the world more beautiful. She also leaves behind scores of extended family and dear friends. Bernie reminded us all by example of how noble it is to be ever gentle, kind and generous. Born in Detroit, she moved to Winnipeg as a child where she later met and then married Gord after he returned from the war. After a busy and happy life raising their family, she and Gord finally made the move to Vancouver in 1970 where they had many good years together. A friend and protector to all creatures great and small, Bernie touched every child she met with the smile in her eyes, and made them all feel most special. Her sense of humour was infectious... she could always make you laugh and feel good. A very special thank you to her caregivers of several years at Jackman Manor in Aldergrove, B.C., who cared for her as though she was their own. At Bernie's request, there will be no service, and in lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA would be appreciated as animals were always a great love in her life. Bernie will be forever missed and fondly remembered.
