April 24, 1940 - March 16, 2022
In loving memory ~
Bruce Mavis, age 81, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022, with his children Michelle and Kevin by his side.
Bruce is also survived by his grandchildren: Elodie, Maude and Max; and Kyle, Cassandra and Brianna.
Bruce was born on April 24, 1940 in New Westminster to Harry and Ada Mavis (nee Page). He was predeceased by his wife Marie (nee Grace) and his brother Russ.
Bruce was a lighthouse of generosity with his time and presence for his family and community. He had been recognized for his volunteering activities such as with the Queen's Jubilee Medal in 2002 and the Eric Flowerdew Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012.
Bruce had a long career with Canada Post and spent his post retirement working part-time at the Langley RCMP and volunteering as Safety Bear, at the Community Police offices, and numerous other policing initiatives in addition to the annual Canada Post's 'Letters to Santa'.
As his Mavis ancestors were among Langley's founders, Bruce was heavily involved at the Fort Langley National Historic Site where he was often honoured, such as with carrying the Olympic Torch through the Fort in 2010.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you consider a donation to the Langley Meals on Wheels, as Bruce was a long-time volunteer for this organization.
