March 2, 1956 – January 22, 2023
Charity “Cherry” Joan Martens sadly passed away on January 22, 2023, surrounded by family. Cherry fought cancer the same way she lived her life: full of gusto, fierce determination, and an amazing sense of humour. Her courage and bravery, even to the end, are an inspiration to us all.
Cherry was born March 2, 1956, in Langley, BC, to David and Aganetha Martens, the youngest of 8. After moving to Calgary, she spent most of her career at Husky Oil before working at Suncor until she retired. Charity enjoyed many hobbies like reading, sewing, and golf, working in a trip to Timmy’s for coffee along the way!
Charity leaves behind her sisters Freda, Zelma (Glenn), Helen (Irvin), Faith (Dave) and Hope and her brother, David (Janet), and many nieces and nephews. Though we miss her dearly, she has gone home to be with her parents and sisters Della and Evelyn. We are hopeful because we know she is at peace and no doubt tee-ing up on the heavenly links.
A service will be held for her at 4:30 p.m,. Sat. Feb 18 at the Aldergrove OAP Heritage Hall, 3015 273 St.
